Colleges Reaching Out to Rural Kids

Bus tours of college recruiters going to rural schools with information and workshops are resources for the students. There is a greater scarcity of rural students attending college than students from urban areas. Some colleges are allocating additional resources to rural students through tuition discounts. Colleges are trying to change the tradition of rural students not going on to higher education. Poverty levels in Questa contribute to the scarcity of students going on the college. Students who don't have access to this information face an opportunity cost of fewer post-secondary options.

Elections Strategies 3 Weeks Out

National polls are a resource used by campaigns to plan their strategies. Surrogates like Presidents Obama and Clinton reaching out to Black, male voters are resources for Harris. Enthusiasm for Harris among Black male voters is more scarce than for Obama when he ran, but Harris seems to have the resource of strong support among college-educated voters in general. There could be an opportunity cost for Harris to go on a Fox News show to be interviewed. Vance sees young White male voters as a resource for Trump, and is working to speak to them. Trump may face an opportunity cost with rhetoric that may appear to be anti-democratic. Trump sees a scarcity of support among suburban women and is focusing on his traditional supporters, like those who do not like societal changes and want something they may see as a return to tradition. Both candidates are concerned about the perceived scarcity of voters who choose to stay home and not cast a ballot.
