Manhunt Underway In Turkey

Killed 39 and injured 70. Attacked a nightclub on New Year’s morning. The police have basic info and fingerprints on the terrorist and hope to find any connections to him. ISIS has claimed responsibility for it. Turkey has been a big part of fighting ISIS. Witnesses say he fired nonstop for at least 20 minutes. One American citizen was wounded but returned back to the US. This is not the first attack. Just two weeks ago the Russian Prime Minister was shot and killed. The French prime minister has vowed to defeat ISIS. It talks about other attacks throughout the Middle East and the amount of violence we have seen this year around the world. There have been over 700 homicides in the US. Trump has tweeted and dismissed those who have questioned his ability to win and said that if cities need help with their violence problems, they have to ask for federal funding. There is currently a two front attack on Turkey by Kurdish forces and ISIS. The Turkish leader is confident that they can defeat all terrorist forces. It is making it difficult to solve these problems because of the wars in Syria. Interviewer say that if there was a good cease fire then it may help Turkey to focus on fighting the two fronts in their state. But Turkey and Russia struggle to keep a cease fire.
Government intervention plays a big role here because in order for Turkey to regain control of their own country from ISIS, the government still has to get Syria and Russia to agree to a cease fire and Turkey has to uphold that promise as well. Opportunity cost could play a role because in order to fix Turkey, Syria might not get as much aid as it needs to recover since Turkey’s resources are working at home. This also brings up scarcity of resources for Syria as they are left to defend themselves against ISIS.

What is high on the GOP agenda?

They want to repeal the Affordable Care Act with a three step process. Also regulations on the environment and a drawn out fight on some of the Cabinet nominees. Amy Walter is interviewed and says the Republicans have a plan to repeal Obamacare but they don’t have a plan to replace it. Says that 43% of Americans support the Afordable Care Act and 20 million have gotten healthcare through it. Democrats will try to hold their ground against the Cabinet Trump has nominated by slowing the process and making it more painful. This may cause anger in the American public because they want to see Congress move forward. Democrats could use people who have been affected by nominees past mistakes: example is Steve Minuchin and his taking over a bank that foreclosed on thousands of homes. Walter says that most likely no one will get booted from the cabinet nomination position. A big spending plan will probably be put on the back burner. It is big government spending and could hurt Trump’s reputation if he addresses it first. We could see a tax credit incentive to help rebuild infrastructure. Walter says they will be lucky to address taxes and Obamacare in depth.
Tradition is represented heavily here because taxes has always been something Republicans have concerned themselves with and this year is no exception. Government intervention also plays a role since Trump plans to get rid of Obamacare and Planned Parenthood (not mentioned in the video but still should be mentioned). Getting rid of Obamacare and not having a replacement for it will create scarcity in the medical field in relation to advanced and basic medical care.
