Supreme Court

Gas and oil are daily resources for Americans. The Supreme Court is a resource that interprets Constitutional issues as part of our government intervention (command). Because Justice Alioto has recused himself, there is a scarcity of justices that leaves open the possibility of an 8-8 split, which would be a ruling in favor of Boulder. If the Court rules in favor of Boulder, the energy companies will have to allocate resources toward paying the city. We set up the tradition of using the Supreme Court for this purpose in the early years of our country. Not every question brought before the Court gets heard, so there is a scarcity of opportunities to get them to weigh in. Additional scarcity of time for the Justices is shown in the lack of days off during the summer recess this year. The question of the legality of third-country deportations is another example of government intervention. If the Justices rule in favor or the administration in the case regarding a ban on transgender troops, that will create a larger scarcity of soldiers, sailors, and so on for the US military.

GLP-1 is a resource for people who have diabetes, and those who have struggled with weight loss. The demand for these drugs is huge, with 1 out of 8 Americans using them. This drug was first ok’d 12 years ago, which is government intervention (command). Very good results are reported, but also there is the opportunity cost of widespread possible side effects. Regardless, the market for the drug is growing. Insurers choosing to drop coverage is resource allocation by the insurance companies, which can lead to a huge opportunity cost for patients, some of whom have to decide between paying their bills or paying for their medicine.
